Portfolio Evaluations
Portfolios may be reviewed using the Track Changes feature in Microsoft Word. This will allow participants to approve/reject changes, and gain feedback more quickly. For a quick tutorial on how Track Changes will be used to evaluate portfolios, view this short video. To access tutorials from on Track Changes for Microsoft Office 2003 and Microsoft Office 2007, visit this web site. Portfolios may also be reviewed as received and email feedback given. Either of these methods is based on instructor preference. Contact your instructor to find out more about portfolio evaluation. Suggestions for good portfolios: *resize images/screen shots to 3" x 3" inches or slightly larger (4" x 4") so they demonstrate the concept and do not take over the page*to learn more about screen shots, visit Take-A-Screenshot or Thing 0.*make sure reflections meet the 150-300 word guides; capstones should be 2-3 pages. *proofread your work!*use educational examples - NOT personal ones. Participants are encouraged to sign a portfolio release form (part of the Worklog/Time log document) so that samples may be shared with future Cohorts. Final portfolios should reflect all revisions.
Important Details about the Lesson Plan Requirement part of the portfolio
You are going to be creating 3 'lesson plans' as part of your Capstone 1C, 2C, and 3C at the end of the portfolio assignment. We have provided templates on the 21things4students site for you to use. You can either create 'Student Activities' or 'Teacher Lesson Plans'.
Please note: If you are creating a new student activity, these activities are to be written for the student as if you were giving them directions in a classroom setting. Avoid the use of I and directly address the student (you will...). Use the student activity template for this.
Please note: If you are creating a teacher lesson plan, please write it as if you are explaining it for the teacher and use the teacher lesson plan blank template provided. These activities must be posted within the Moodle or BlackBoard system for your instructor to approve BEFORE you post them to the 21things4students Lesson Repository.
